Each year Young Bucks Sports develops opportunities for community residents to engage in activities that raise awareness about the benefits of physical fitness, nutrition and recreation to combat the growing threat of obesity.

 

Stick ball Institute

A free co-ed summer program for youth ages 6-17 that occurs on Saturdays during the months of July and August at Poor Richards playground located at 108th street & 3rd Ave. from 10 am - 3 pm. The program provides an overview of the fundamentals of the game with invited guest stick ball professors.

 

Pop up Playground

On site games set up in school yards to encourage families to play.

Volley ball, jump ropes, Frisbee, skeleys, tic tac toe toss, soccer, hula hoops, chalk play, and other urban games.

 

Arts and Crafts

Workshops to promote creativity and appreciation for the arts.

 

Nutrition

Workshops to promote healthy food choices.

 

Exercise

On site 15 min. sets that include light aerobics.

 

Labor Day Games

A community day of play for families.

 

March 4 Health & Movement

An annual community march to raise funds and awareness about obesity.

 

Positive Power of Play: Beating Obesity One Game at a Time

An annual festival against obesity with games and education.
